Thought I'd give an insight into the making of my latest card design for Mother's Day.
The idea was a simple 'MUM' design. I wanted bright and colourful typographical shapes with some highlighted linea patterning over the top.
I usually start with some inspiration images, roughly mark out the shapes in pencil, then reach for the water colours. I love the process of water colour painting. The wet paint is rich and glossy, the colours bleeding into each other as they move across the page.
Using a fine black pen I try out some marks and patterns. After scanning both parts into Photoshop, I then lay the pen marks over the top of the painted areas to create the finished design.
